OtherMinds Magazine Launches New Website.

by Other Minds Magazine Portal Administrator last modified 2007-04-24 19:02

OtherMinds Magazine has launched it's new website to begin collecting content and shaping the new publication.

OtherMinds Magazine is The unofficial, International Role Playing Gamers magazine dedicated to exploring J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth and beyond.

OtherMinds Magazine is dedicated to gaming in J.R.R. Tolkien world. The new website portal has been created as a means of collaboration for the content providers and editors, to gather and put together the content online in a cooperative and dynamic fashion, a publication later to be offered as downloadable PDFs and later as Wiki pages that can be commented on.

The Goal

Of this publication is to provide Tolkien-related content of interest to Tolkien enthusiasts of all kinds, and more specifically, information usable for those who love to use role playing games to enjoy the many facets of J.R.R. Tolkien's imaginary universe containing Middle-earth, Endor, Arda, Ea, etc.

The Community

Runs this series,  geared initially for quarterly releases, but eventually hoping to be a monthly release cycle. Revised online, and released as downloads in PDF (or     other Formats).  This is  a NON-COMMERCIAL endeavor, provided by many volunteers with professional, academic, and amateur backgrounds.

Absolutely NO fees will be collected, nor paid for content or publication.

The hope is to try to fill in the gaps left by the loss of Other Hands, ICE Quarterly (MERPS section), and other paper-based as well as electronic publications that have come and gone over the years, that helped contribute to the role playing gaming community focused on gamers who love to play in Middle-earth and it's environs. Additionally to fill in the voids that have NOT been filled by either the "Tolkien Purist" zines, or the company biased or game-system specific zines.

Content

Will be developed through contributors of essays, maps, modules, source materials, email-based list discussions, wiki pages, web-based discussion boards, web pages, and other sources. Then organized into a formal magazine format suitable for public release.

We hope everyone enjoys the great features currently available, and soon to be available on this site.

Some of the currently ready features of the new website include:

Discussion Forums

Wiki Pages (public and private).

Live Chatrooms

News and RSS Subscription feeds

Many other features are in the pipeline. For now we're going to work on smoothing out what is currently in place, as well as aesthetic improvements such as picking the best skin and creating a logo (the current logo is just a temporary placeholder).

Enjoy!
